由影片我們可知禮物經濟的背後蘊含著互惠、展示財力、為贏得社會聲量、期望透過送禮得到獲禮者的某樣東西等多種意涵。
結合現代社會，台灣的政治人物每到選前總會發放一些衛生紙、口罩、香皂等民生用品給選民這何嘗不是一種買票呢？像今年年初因修了您開的一門選修「語言與文化」而有幸參與了一場蔣萬安舉辦的造勢，尤記得舞台上的蔣萬安賣力地講述他的政見，台下的爺爺奶奶們卻不是專注地在吃拿來的食物就是在排隊拿食物的隊伍當中。那些政見對他們來說並不重要，拿人手短，吃了這些好料到時候要投誰消化過後的食物自然會說與他聽。
此外，我們也能常常透過新聞看到某某企業家、藝人或政治人物捐了多少財物給公益團體，他們是真的那麼有愛心嗎？少數或許是吧，但多數都是為了買一個「公益」的形象。這個形象對他們有什麼好處？消費者會更願意購買他們企業的商品，相信這樣能間接幫助到他人，藝人方面則會因爲這樣的正面形象而獲得更多粉絲從而取得比捐出去的錢更大的利益（粉絲多意味流量大，代言和資源自然源源不斷），政治人物則能獲取更多選票。
那麼這個世上有沒有「單純」的禮物呢？父母的生日禮物？在我眼中也是一種帶有交換概念的禮物經濟，只是他們要換的東西比較純粹吧，一份蘊含愛的禮物，想要換到的也是我們對他們的愛。
